Introductory Cadet Training

All cadets will complete the introductory training prior to moving to more in-depth training based upon their chosen profession.

  1. SSO Command structure 
  2. Basic knowledge of the Startrek Universe.
  3. Basic knowledge of Starfleet Departments
  4. Rank structure within Starfleet
  5. Rules and regs of the SSO
  6. Proper procedure for posting logs/reports

Operations Officer Training

  1. Introduction
    1. Intro to Simming
      The cadet will meet operations officers already stationed on Starfleet vessels and be introduced to how the operations officer is responsible for the continuity of the sim timeline.
    2. Starfleet Security Creed
    3. Rank structure

  2. Hands on training
    1. Sample Sims
      Basic simming to familiarize the cadet with SSO simming, addressing the difference between email and IRC simming
    2. Email Sim Scenarios
      A short, basic Email sim (3-5 Posts)
    3. IRC Sim Scenarios
      A short, basic IRC sim (1-2 Live Sims)

  3. Advanced Training
    All cadets are expected to have experience in both email and IRC simming however at this point they may select which simming experience they prefer and complete the advanced training in that area.
    1. Email Sim Scenarios
      A single Email sim will be completed by the cadet.  This simulation will be more in-depth and longer than the one completed in their earlier training and a higher standard of participation will be expected.
    2. IRC Sim Scenarios
      A single IRC sim will be completed by the cadet.  This simulation will be more in-depth and longer than the one completed in their earlier training and a higher standard of participation will be expected.
    3. Unusual Situations
      This section will be completed by all cadets.

  4. Creative Production
    1. Bio construction
      All cadets will have completed a basic bio prior to starting the Academy.  At this stage the cadet should be more comfortable with their character and their bio will be redressed in order to flesh out the details and to ensure that the bio meets the strict standards set by the SSO.
    2. Original ideas by recruit
      In this section the cadet will learn how to introduce their ideas into the simulations
    3. Character interaction
      Interaction and the correct use of other characters will be covered in this section from both the IRC and Email perspective.

  5. Conclusion
    1. Promotion to Ensign
      No small achievement, promotion to Ensign will be accompanied with all the pomp and ceremony deserving of a cadets completion of Starfleet academy training.
    2. Assignment to Fleet
      Although the cadet can indicate a preference for which ship they wish to sim on, assignment will depend largely on availability of positions on the selected vessel.

 

Tactical/Security Officer Training

  1. Introduction
    1. Intro to Simming
      The cadet will meet security officers already stationed on Starfleet vessels and be introduced to how the Starfleet Security Officer can greatly enhance the simming experience for those crewmembers stationed aboard their vessels.
    2. Starfleet Security Creed
      All security officers will need to be conversant with the Security Creed before assignment to the Fleet.  The creed is what Security Officers live by and no cadet will be permitted to advance until this knowledge is demonstrated.

      Basic simming to familiarize the cadet with SSO simming, addressing the difference between email and IRC simming
    2. Email Sim Scenarios
      A sort, basic Email sim

      At the completion of this section the cadet will be expected to show a working knowledge of medical systems and what medical equipment should be used in certain situations.
